Our Story

Mariner & Mae was founded by interior designer Christina Rebello as a way to bring together two lifelong passions: thoughtfully designed interiors and original textiles inspired by New England.

The belief behind the studio is simple: the best homes feel collected, personal, and full of character. Whether furnishing an entire home or adding the finishing details to a single room, every decision should contribute to a space that feels authentic to the people who live there.

Based in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Christina draws inspiration from weathered harbors, sailing traditions, historic homes, and the quiet beauty of coastal New England.

For Christina, design has always felt like home.

Growing up in Maine with an interior designer mother, she spent countless hours flipping through fabric sample books, rummaging through bins of wallpaper memos and trim samples, and occasionally tagging along to clients' homes to watch the design process unfold. Long before Mariner & Mae existed, those early experiences quietly shaped the way she saw interiors and the details that make a house feel warm, welcoming, and deeply personal.

After years designing residential interiors throughout New England, Christina founded Mariner & Mae to create the kinds of patterns she always found herself searching for: classic, versatile designs that feel equally at home in a historic coastal cottage, a thoughtfully renovated family home, or a fresh new build.

Designed with real rooms in mind

As both an interior designer and textile designer, Christina creates every pattern with real homes in mind. Not simply how it appears on a screen, but how it lives within a space, repeated across wallpaper, tailored into Roman shades, layered into bedding, or upholstered onto a favorite chair.

Some designs are meant to become the focal point of a room. Others quietly support the story, a heritage stripe, a small floral, or an understated coordinate that brings everything together. Every collection is designed to mix effortlessly, layer naturally, and help create homes that feel collected, comfortable, and uniquely personal.

A New England point of view

The work reflects the details Christina returns to again and again in both her interiors and her collections: heritage stripes, quiet botanicals, maritime motifs, charted sailing routes, woven textures, and coastal color palettes softened by time.

While there is a distinctly New England point of view behind every collection, the goal has never been to create something overly themed or overly coastal. Instead, Mariner & Mae creates patterns that feel timeless, versatile, and easy to live with, equally at home in a seaside cottage, a historic farmhouse, or a classic family home.

More than patterns

Today, Mariner & Mae encompasses both an interior design practice and an original textile collection, each informing and inspiring the other.

Whether designing a full home, selecting the finishing details that bring a room together, or creating an original wallpaper collection, Christina approaches every project with the same philosophy: thoughtful design should feel personal, intentional, and reflective of the people who live there.

Because in the end, it's often the smallest details, the wallpaper in a powder room, the Roman shade in a breakfast nook, or the fabric on a favorite chair, that quietly become the ones people remember most.
